Sunday Sharing – ‘Me time’

I’ve always been a bit crafty inclined. I use to knit as a child but I don’t think I ever actually created much of anything – I was always working on the ‘scarf’ and my work always somehow became less wide as I went on, whether it was from poor tension control or me dropping stitches or both is anyone’s guess. When I was 16 I did a short course which taught me applique, niave applique, quilting, embroidery and cross-stitch and from there it has just been me and youtube with the occasional hand from my Nanna or mother.

I don’t get the chance to do much very often. I don’t so much juggle things at home as prioritise and neglect things in a semi-rotation. For my sanity that means that usually once a month I will prioritise some ‘me time’ and create something. This week I’ve had to ground 2 daughters for various naughty acts (neglecting chores and throwing a fork at her brother) and put one on a phone ban for staying up until near midnight on facebook. I’ve had a 4 year old tell me that a missing laptop key was under the couch like that was a perfectly acceptable place to keep it and a 7 year old who, when told to eat his dinner exploded with, “Well I CAN’T eat it if it tastes HORRIBLE!” Today I have decided I WILL prioritise doing something for me.

Meanwhile, here is a cool link I found recently which might be interesting to you if you are looking for something creative to do. I bought the Softies book from Penguin books recently and made a ‘Polly’ doll for a friend’s daughter’s birthday and followed the link from the contributing designer to her blog where I found the cutest little bunny. It’s a bit later for Easter but cute none the less.

And here are a few pics of my ‘Polly’ doll.:)

Kelly - Throwing a fork!!! Who throws a fork??!!
We shall call peaches friend ‘polly’ as I loved Pollyanna as a child
I’m currently blind stiching a carebear’s butt, neglecting dinner, bath and data entry work but miss five is loving it
What will you make next??

admin - I know right?! A fork of all things. Well, I think that sounds delightful and I think neglecting those things is sometimes the good things in life! I’m currently in the middle of a few projects – I’m knitting a tassle hat (without a pattern so I have no idea what the finished size will be) and I have some flannelette here for making some pj pants for Miss Evie. Practical things but still fun!
